All materials are concerned.
The main objective is to understand the impact of a given defect
population on the fatigue behavior
- from a material optimization point of view
(i.e. the link with the material elaboration and manufacturing
process) and also
- from a design optimization perspective
(i.e. definition of an allowable defect size).
Topics for abstract submission include:
- Material defects and manufacturing processes.
- Statistical distribution of defects.
- In-service defects: scratches, wear, Foreign Object Damage (FOD)...
- New experimental techniques (nondestructive defect
characterization, crack initiation detection, crack propagation monitoring, etc)
- Short crack effects
- Stress concentration effects
- Multiaxial stress effects
- Fatigue limit modeling including defects
- Fatigue life modeling including defects
- Through Process Modeling (Fatigue modeling taking into account the manufacturing process)
- Defect size mapping on structure for engineering design.
